We started non-ferrous alloy sheet and strip production when the company was established in 1968. As Poongsan Corporation introduced its copper/copper alloy products internationally as well as domestically, our reputation as one of the world's largest, most dedicated, and innovative companies in the non-ferrous metals industry was established. In fact, Poongsan alloy technology PMC102 is licensed by companies in the U.S. and Europe. Poongsan's rolled products are the basic materials for an entire spectrum of manufacturing applications using copper and copper alloy sheets and strips. Poongsan sheets and strips are second to none, meeting rigorous internal quality control standards that exceed international standards set forth by JIS, ASTM, DIN, and other standards.

It supplies large volumes of sheets and strips as starting materials for manufacturers and exporters.,-With Plant's International Standards Organization (ISO) 9002 certification, Poongsan earned a reputation for yielding high-quality products. A large-scale continuous production system from melting and casting to slitting is in operation at the Onsan plant.

It consists of horizontal continuous casting (HCC) and semi-continuous casting (SCC) lines, a hot rolling mill that can roll 6-ton slabs continuously, tandem mills, 20-hi cold rolling mills and heat treatment furnaces. Intermediate products are re-rolled by a precision rolling mill in various dimensions up to 630 millimeters in width and 0.03 millimeter in thickness at a tolerance of 0.002 millimeter. They are subject to a rigorous quality control system with modern inspection devices for precise dimensions, desirable physical properties, and surface conditions.

Rolled products are categorized according to their alloy component and casting method:

* pure copper

* brass

* cupronickel

* phosphor bronze

* and aluminum bronze

Certain applications require particular characteristics and certain alloys are best suited for some of these. Sheets and strips made of phosphor bronze or nickel-silver, for example, are widely used as electric or electronic functional parts. Nickel-silver is also used to produce food-packing cans with the most desirable qualities. Their qualities and physical properties are strictly controlled on the level required for machining. Spring materials, for instance, are tension-annealed for better elasticity and reliability. Poongsan engineers and technicians are world-class metallurgical experts.
